Church donation software without the percentage fee
Most church giving platforms take a percentage of every donation, on top of normal card processing. Nonprofit Manager, a free WordPress plugin, doesn’t. You pay only your processor’s standard rate. Here’s the real math on what that difference is worth.
What the popular platforms charge
- Tithe.ly: 2.9% plus 30 cents per card transaction, 1% plus 30 cents for bank transfers. A “cover the fees” option lets the donor absorb it instead, but the fee itself never disappears.
- Planning Center: 2.15% plus 30 cents on cards. Bank transfers run a flat 30 cents, no percentage at all, one of the cheaper processing paths around.
- Pushpay: not published. You find out only after a sales call.
- Nonprofit Manager: 0% platform fee. Pay only the standard Stripe or PayPal rate, same as everyone else.
Run the numbers on $100,000 a year in giving. Tithe.ly’s 2.9% works out to roughly $2,900 that never reaches the budget. Nonprofit Manager’s cut of that is zero.
Setting it up
Install Nonprofit Manager free. Turn on donations in the setup wizard. Connect PayPal, Venmo, or Stripe. Add a giving form to any page. Recurring monthly giving comes with Pro, still with no platform fee on top.
What you’re trading
Fair to say plainly: Tithe.ly and Pushpay bundle a branded giving app and a polished donor-facing experience that a WordPress plugin won’t replicate on its own. Is a branded mobile app important to your congregation? Weigh that against the fee. Is a simple, no-fee giving form on your existing site enough? The savings are real and they add up every year.

Fees are from each vendor’s official pages as of July 2026 and can change. The $100,000 example is a round illustration, not a quote.
